Joseph Dyer, The Centre For Health Reform’ strategic lead for Citizen-led Engagement and Senior Manager of Research and Intelligence at Surrey County Council spoke at the European Pharmaceutical Market Research Association (EphMRA) London conference on 27 February about our sector-leading patient engagement work, specifically around Cardiovascular Disease (CVD).
Together with Dr Walker of M3 Global Research, Rich discussed a collaboration that can truly be considered transformational in terms of culture change within the NHS towards market research. For the first time, a formal approach to patient engagement and patient/stakeholder co-design has resulted in patient-led priorities and improvements.
Now being advocated as best practice for ongoing work across the NHS with The King’s Fund and NHSE, the CVD project has demonstrated the benefits of the The Centre For Health Reform patient-centric approach. At the conference Rich and Tom led a debate about why and how the NHS needs to change its approach to engagement.
Dr Walker also spoke about how M3’s recruitment and work with citizens in the run up to the CVD pathway design event helped ensure maximum value for the project.
EphMRA is a centre of excellence in research thinking working to deliver the development of best practice in healthcare market research. Its overall aim is to create an environment that encourages excellence in providing insights combined with business knowledge. It also provides training and opportunities for best practice exchange for healthcare market researchers.
