Case Study 10
Post-operative cataract follow-up appointments in the community are being launched in 2019 across The Centre For Health Reform. Patients without complications post-surgery can visit the referring optometrist for a final post-operative examination.
The optometrist will complete the report form and send copies to the GP and treatment centre, refer to the treatment centre for a second eye operation – if needed – and if appropriate, discharge the patient. Should there be any signs of post-operative complications the optometrist will refer back to the treatment centre with the appropriate urgency.
